Room make over on a budget.. Part 1

We moved into my house a little over two years ago now, and have done nothing to my spare rooms since then. Before we moved in I had decided that I wanted a blue and white theme with a bit of nautical thrown in, this basically consisted of a canvas print, bedding and throw cushion's. So nothing with any design or real concept it was just thrown together during moving in.

During those two years I have finally decided how I want the room to look, after going back and forth between colours and furniture etc.. When we moved in we brought Ikea's Hemnes bedroom range which at the time was functional, we have debated whether or not to get rid of it, however we are keeping it and not repainting the room either as it simply does not need it. So why on a budget... I wanted to challenge myself to see how little it can take to completely transform a room.

So the transformation has begun...

Before:

The look I am aiming for is bright colours, think teal and neutrals, shades of old metals, inviting with hints of natural wicker and indoor plants to give it a natural element.

I have brought the bedding, and some throw cushions, I picked the bedding up in the Next sale, you may be able to get online in the clearance section, and the cushions are also from Next priced at a reasonable £14 each. I am still looking for plain white cushions, which are a lot harder to come by, Ikea have that look promising at only £2 for a cushion cover.

Please excuse the 3 odd cushions I left them on there until I can pick up the white ones. Here is a close up of the cushions.

I have also moved one of my favourite candles and some fake flowers into the room.

Stay tuned as I continue to transform this room, I think the next part is window treatments, and I want to create a college feature wall on the back wall. Any suggestions just leave a comment below.
